The new Carstairs Public Library is attached to the new Elementary School; however, it is a separate space from the school complete with its own entrance. The joint partnership was created to better utilize space and capital resources by joining the buildings on a single parcel of land.
The Public Library is mainly a wide open vaulted space with daylight joined by ancillary space for function and services. The library also contains an E-Learning Centre in association with a local college offering spaces for online education and small meeting rooms, complimenting the important multi-purpose goals.
