2024 Association for Learning Environments (A4LE) “Best New Construction of an Educational Facility”
A new 5,694sq.m, 300-student capacity K-9 school in the heart of Fort McKay. The building will be used for both Educational, Community, and Cultural purposes with spaces designed for Indigenous Language, Cultural Learning, and an Archives for artifact storage and display. The school will also have space for Classrooms, Science, Home Economics, Arts Performances, Fine Arts The Community portion of the building can be separated from school for afterhour public use. This portion of the building will contain a large Gym, Fitness Centre, raised running track, theatre / stage, Commercial Kitchen and large Gathering Space for Community functions and feasts.
