The 2721m2 Theresa C. Wildcat Early Learning Centre has an opening day capacity of 232 students. The design for the school creates maximum functionality and flexibility to accommodate progressing teaching methods, with considerations for future educational innovations.
The design maintained focus on the four Pillars of the Maskwacis Declaration of Education:
- Wâhkôhtowin
- Nehiyawewin
- Nehiyaw Pimâtisôwin
- Îyinîw Mâmitonehicikan
The new kindergarten building accommodates students from 4 distinct Cree Nations within the Maskwacis community, with the intent of revitalizing Indigenous philosophies, knowledge, and Cree culture.

Key features of the Design remain: Student safety, cultural significance, connection to the natural
surrounding environment and a strong focus on daylighting for learning.
